The idea to create a company of car models for collectors has been of Marco Grassini, a fan and collector of 1/43 scale car models since over 40 years (he owns about 7.000 pcs.)
This big passion brought him in 1984 to found BOX MODEL and than in 1990, together with his family, M4 (Marco, Mariella, Michele and Manuela).
M4 produces car models of years 40/50/60 with ART MODEL brand, and car model of years 60/70/80 with BEST MODEL brand.
M4 is an handicraft firm and thanks to the experience and the wide knowledge of the sector, Marco Grassini dedicates himself to the creation of rare models difficult to find on the market.
Recently M4 has acquired RIO firm, founded in distant 1962, one of the most ancient car models company in the world (in that age other companies produced toys).
M4 is pride of this purchase because in this way has avoided that RIO had acquired by Asiatics.
Production of a new model begins with research of documents (we own over 1.000 books); than comes design and construction of moulds. Each model requires construction at least of 5 moulds till 10 moulds for models more detailed.
Each model of ours is compound from 60 to 110 details; coachwork in metal, wheels in aluminium and steel, tyres, glasses, internals in plastic.
M4 has been the first one to add photo-engraved details, which are an unpublished novelty in the die-cast sector.
Painting is made very carefully in a sterile pressurized cabin, with 3 or also 4 passges of paint.
Starting from June 2007, M4 has launched on the market, to keep price slow, a new collection of models entirely manufactured in China (in limited edition of 1000/2000 pcs. Per item); on the contrary the models of ART, BEST and RIO are produced in Italy.
This new collection “Una Storia Italiana” has started with the reproduction of the most beautiful and representative Alfa Romeo.
Our team follows and checks all working phases in China, giving to the models our Italian Style.
